Bajaj Auto is one of the leading players in the Indian motorcycle industry. The company has now raised the bar for others with the upcoming launch of Bajaj Dominar 400. For the first time, Bajaj Auto is entering into the fastest growing 400 cc motorcycle segment and thus every auto-fan is eagerly awaiting for the next ‘Dominator’! The name ‘dominar’ finds origin in Spanish language and it means ‘to dominate’ in English.
Bajaj Dominar 400: Opportunities and Threats
The company is unveiling the flagship motorcycle which belongs to the Sports-Tourer category; on 15th December 2016. With professional riding on the rise in India, this motorcycle will certainly offer more choices to the riding community. The Pune based motorcycle maker is targeting riders who desire power alongwith the touring comfort needed for long-rides. Furthermore, Bajaj is likely to keep the price under Rupees 2 lakh for the base version. Thus, Bajaj Dominar 400 will directly compete with the offerings from KTM, Royal Enfield and Mahindra.
Expected Specifications of Bajaj Dominar 400
Bajaj Auto will manufacture the Dominar 400 in its Chakan facility, where it will roll out from an all-women assembly line. The engine will be a single cylinder liquid cooled, producing around 30-35 bhp and is likely to feature the patented triple spark technology. Additionally, a 6-speed gearbox will provide more efficient power delivery. The Disc Brakes will be standard alongwith optional ABS. The new product will be in showroom from January 2017.
A lot of enthusiasm is prevailing in the market for this bike. Previously, this bike was thought of as a part of the extended pulsar family. However, Bajaj has recently announced that it is a new premium segment. Now the question remains whether it will actually dominate the market or not; will entirely depend on the product quality, performance, features and the price-tag.
