With the same spirits like their world winning football team, the German auto giant Volkswagen has introduced facelifted version of its popular hatchback Polo entitled as New Polo with a strong desire to take on its competitors in Indian market. The launch function took place in New Delhi on 15th June 2014. So, the much awaited, refreshed New Polo 2014 is finally here!
New Polo exhibits some external body styling changes like new front bumper and front grille design. A chrome strip on front air intake grille adds to the aggressive look of the car. New fog lamps and cornering lamps suit well with the overall getup. In addition to these external changes, New Polo has a major change under hood i.e. introduction of more powerful 1.5 Litre TDI (Diesel) engine. Thus, New Polo has two different options of engines- 1.2 L petrol (generating a max. power of 55 kW@5400 rpm & a max. torque of 110Nm @ 3750 rpm) and 1.5 L diesel (generating a max. power of 66 kW@4200 rpm & a max. torque of 230Nm @ 1500-2500 rpm). Both these engines are mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. ‘Trendline’, ‘Comfortline’ and ‘Highline’ are the three trims which are available on each of the petrol and the diesel versions of New Polo.
On the safety front, every New Polo- right from the base version to top end version; is accoutred with dual airbags (driver and passenger side). Engine immobiliser with floating code, front & rear seatbelts and front disc brakes are some other standard safety equipments. ABS available as a standard feature on Comfortline and Trendline trims.
In order to improve the overall appeal, six different refreshing colours are available on New Polo. They are- Copper Orange, Candy White, Night Blue, Flash Red, Carbon Steel and Reflex Silver.
The price of petrol version of New Polo starts from Rs.4.99 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi) and extends upto Rs. 6.07 Lakhs(Ex-showroom Delhi) while that of Diesel version ranges from Rs.6.27 Lakhs to Rs. 7.37 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi).
