Tata Motors teases with official pics of its latest hatchback Kite; renamed as Tata Zica…!
Following our earlier story, Tata Motors recently took the veil off of its latest offering – Tata Zica. Tata Motors is pursuing its ‘HorizonNext’ design theme and as a result, Zica gets all-new styling cues. In the pictures released by Tata Motors; which showcase its prominent style; gives Tata Zica newer and fresher appearance over its siblings.
Styling Quotient:
From the pictures, Zica looks quite balanced in proportion and carries smart styling quotient. The front of Tata Zica features the Tata signature honeycomb grille & sleek bonnet with crease-lines. Zica’s inverted halogen headlamps & wrap-around tail-lamps merge well with the car’s body. The side profile of Zica shows broad crease-lines starting from front fender and all the way upto the ‘C’ pillar. The rear profile with spoiler & high mount brake light of the Tata Zica; matches with VW Polo / Hyundai Grand i10 to some extent.
Powertrain:
The Zica is likely to get both engine options – petrol & diesel. Petrol-engined Zica will be powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron motor (without the turbocharger) producing about 80 PS. Whereas, a new 1.05L three-cylinder diesel motor producing about 70 PS will power the diesel Zica. Zica will get 5-speed manual transmission.
Equipment:
Tata Zica will get two-tone dashboard similar to the Zest / Bolt. The three-spoke multi-function steering wheel is also borrowed from Bolt. The Zica is expected to be internally spacious; just like any other Tata cars, as they have been traditionally.
Tata Zica will be launched by early 2016 in India, possibly before the Auto Expo 2016. Being an entry level hatchback, it will be priced very competitively with expected price starting from around Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). In that case, it will surely create a stir in the segment.
