Ultraviolette F77: Superbike from India
India’s Ultraviolette Automotive is a Bangaluru based startup with funding from the likes of TVS Motor Company. The company recently launched its electric motorcycle - the Ultraviolette F77. This futuristic-looking sports motorcycle is available in three variants - Lightning, Shadow, and Laser. It commands a starting price of Rs 3 lakh on-road. However, the first 100 units of the bike are already sold out. With a revolutionary design, technology, and user experience, Ultraviolette F77 intends to completely redefine the electric mobility in India.
Power & Torque:
Ultraviolette claims that F77 is a high-performance electric motorcycle with the numbers to prove its mettle. The motorcycle its power from a 25kW electric motor. The motor gets current from three lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 4.2kWh. This set-up delivers an output of 33.5PS and 90Nm. This drives the motorcycle from standstill to 100kmph in just 7.5s. Besides, the F77 sprints from 0-60kmph in 2.9s. The top speed for the F77 claims to be 147kmph.
However, its range with three batteries claims to be between 130-150kmph. The motor is mated to the single-reduction helical gearbox. Ultraviolette F77 offers you three riding modes. They are Eco, Sport and Insane modes which control the torque output and throttle response. The motor is air-cooled and has the company's proprietary thermal management system.
Ultraviolette F77's standard charger can recharge the battery in five hours. However, the fast charger will do it in just 1.5 hours. The motorcycle has a rugged casing for the batteries to withstand shocks and vibrations. In addition, it features a CCS charging port and IP67 battery connectors. The F77 will get an optional portable fast charger, alongside a standard charger and a home charging pod. The bike uses a downward extended motor mount as the stressed member with a trellis frame. The modular battery pack is removable. It consists of up to three lithium-ion batteries.
Ultraviolette F77 Chassis & Brakes:
Moreover, Ultraviolette F77’s chassis is a trellis frame that is very similar to the chassis of the KTM RC 390. However, with a seat height of 800mm, it is lower than RC390. The bike’s suspension consists of the USD forks at the front. However, there is a gas-charged shock absorber at the rear. The braking unit consists of 320mm rotors at the front and 230mm at the rear. They are mated to braided metal lines. The motorcycle uses sticky Metzler M5 in 110/70-17 tires at the front and 150/60-17 at the rear.
Furthermore, Ultraviolette F77 gets Ultraviolette’s ‘Modular Battery’ technology. It is a smart and connected electric motorcycle. It features ride telematics, remote diagnostics, over-the-air (OTA) upgrades, and regenerative braking. Additionally, there are multiple riding modes, ride analytics, and bike tracking feature.
