The Original 'Jeep' Coming To India With Grand Cherokee SRT:
As we had reported earlier, Fiat-owned Jeep finally made its long-awaited India debut at the auto expo in New Delhi. Jeep introduced three of its models for the Indian market. Jeep unveiled its iconic Wrangler, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SRT at Auto Expo 2016. The Wrangler will be available in 2.4 litre petrol engine and 3.8 litre diesel engines.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is the high-performance version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Cherokee is powered by 3.0 litre diesel and 3.6 litre petrol engines. It will be available in two variants; whereas Cherokee SRT is powered by a 6.4 litre V8 petrol engine.
The SRT has 4,846 mm length, 1,954 mm width and 1,749 mm height with a wheelbase of 2,914 mm. The power in SRT comes from a 6.4-litre HEMI naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine that develops 470 hp and 624 Nm of torque.
Power is transmitted to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission with pedal shifters. The SRT also features the Quadra-trac active-on-demand all-wheel drive system. The Grand Cherokee SRT can sprint 0-100 km/h in 5 seconds and has a top speed of 257 km/h.
The SRT is equipped with Launch Control button, Selec-Track® Traction Control, 20-inch “Goliath” polished aluminum wheels, Brembo high-performance braking system with ABS and LED Daytime running lights. The SRT is most likely to be launched in the second half of 2016 during the festive season.
