Tata Tiago Set To Rev Up Hatchback Segment In India
To rev-up the compact hatchback market and attain dominance, India’s most reputed brand Tata Motors has brought in its ace – Tata Tiago. With an eye on expanding its portfolio for private buyers, Tata Motors has launched its much awaited car Tiago with a lucrative starting price of Rs. 3.20 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Tiago takes on Maruti Celerio, Hyundai Grnad i10 and Chevvy Beat in the compact hatchback segment. The car gets 5 variants (XB, XE, XM, XT, and XZ) alongwith 3 optional safety variants; which will cost additional Rs. 18,000/-.
Engine & Mileage:
The Tiago is available in both, petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variants will be powered by the 1.2-litre Revotron engine; which delivers 84bhp power and 114Nm of torque. The diesel variants get a 1.05-litre Revotorq motor; which produces 69bhp and 140Nm.
The Tiago comes with two driving modes – Power & Eco; which is the first in the segment. Both these engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission. This time, Tata Motors has effectively worked on fuel efficiency figures; which are very impressive. The petrol variant delivers an ARAI-certified mileage of 23.84Km/L and the diesel engine gives 27.28Km/L, as claimed by the manufacturer.
Tata Tiago Special Features:
Tata Tiago features the new signature honeycomb grille with sporty 3 dimensional headlamps. The fog lamps get chrome garnish and match well with bumper. Tata Motors has also given some smart, user-friendly features on Tiago.
Among the notables include a storage space for tablet in glove box, interior lamps with theatre dimming feature and collapsible grab handles with coat hook and dual tone theme besides on-board display of distance to empty and instantaneous fuel consumption. With 242 litres of boot there is ample space to carry luggage.
