The successor of common man’s car i.e. Tata Nano is expected to be on Indian roads by year 2015. Entitled as Tata Nano F-Tronic, this time it would be featuring the most coveted attribute of Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Nano F-Tronic was showcased for the first time in this year’s Delhi Auto Expo. Since then, company is pushing its limits to turn this venture into a success story.
The powerhouse of this new Nano F-Tronic would be the same twin cylinder 624cc engine that is currently on offer on all Nano versions. However, the way to put these 37bhp to use is the thing that differs a lot! It is believed that Tata Motors would be obtaining the AMT system from ‘Magnetic Marelli’ – the supplier for Maruti Celerio’s AMT.
In addition to AMT, Nano F-Tronic would also get updated headlamps and a refreshed bumper that will improve the overall vehicle appeal. The interiors would remain mostly similar to its elder brother Nano Twist except for the added wood inserts. A bigger fuel tank is also anticipated on Nano F-Tronic as a result of implementing AMT.
The launch of Nano F-Tronic is planned next year right after Zest and Bolt as per our sources.
