S-Cross bookings open in India:
Dealers of Maruti Suzuki have started accepting bookings for the company’s upcoming crossover the Suzuki S-Cross. The company has opened up the pre-launch bookings of S-Cross at a down payment of Rs. 11,000. With the S-Cross, Maruti Suzuki is looking to target two car segments at once – the hatchback-based crossovers such as Hyundai Elite i20 Active and the compact-SUVs such as Ford Ecosport.

Maruti Suzuki will treat the S-Cross as a premium product and will sell it through Maruti’s premium ‘Nexa’ outlets after it is launched. Nexa outlets will only sell Suzuki’s premium cars starting with the S-cross. However, the premium cars sold through NEXA outlets will not feature the ‘Maruti Suzuki’ nameplate but instead will display only Suzuki logo.
The S-Cross is expected to be priced between Rs. 8-11 lakh. The Suzuki S-Cross will get two power options – 1.3-litre turbocharged DDiS engine with 90PS and 1.6-litre turbocharged DDiS engine delivering 120PS. The 1.3-litre version will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, whereas the 1.6-litre version will get a 6-speed manual transmission.
