Tata Motors’ mini-SUV ‘Nexon’ caught testing at Wakad near Pune:
One of Crankit’s ardent followers, Ameya, rarely misses to spot heavily camouflaged cars. Earlier, he had sent Tata Kite spy pics for our followers. This time, he clicked the upcoming mini-SUV Tata Nexon spy pics on his camera. These photographs were taken on 22nd October 2016, when it was undergoing testing at Wakad near Pune.

India’s popular car-maker Tata Motors is trying to make a comeback in the sub-4 meter segment with Tata Nexon. The manufacturer is already conducting road tests of the sub-4 meter SUV around Pune City, where it is currently under development. Targeting this fastest growing segment, Tata Nexon will take on the likes of Maruti Vitarra Brezza, Ford Ecosport, and Mahindra TUV 300.

The Tata Nexon spy pics show that it has a typical SUV like structure. Although taken from a long distance, photos clearly divulge the Tata signature grille at front. You can also notice a heavy crease line starting from the front door upto the ‘C’ pillar on the side profile. This gives the car a muscular look. The side profile now shows plastic door trims extending upto the rear door, unseen in the earlier spy pics. Also, they clearly show projector headlamps, fog lamps and alloy wheels of the car. From the pics, the car appears to be quite close to the pre-production stage.

Tata Nexon is based on Indica’s X1 platform, but with some major modifications. Under the bonnet, the car is likely to feature a 1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol motor and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The car will most likely run on a six-speed AMT transmission. Tata Motors has not declared the launch date of this vehicle yet. However, many speculate that it could be in early 2017.
