Renault Kwid launched

The ‘mini-Duster’ aka Renault Kwid launched:

French Car-maker Renault has launched its much awaited entry-level hatchback Renault Kwid – dubbed as ‘mini-Duster’ in India, at an introductory starting price of Rs 2.57 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Kwid is available in six trims viz. STD., RXE, RXE (O), RXL, RXT & RXT (O) and priced between Rs 2.57 lakh to Rs 3.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Kwid will take on Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon in the entry-level hatchback segment.

In Kwid, the company claims to have achieved the localisation of 98%, highest ever by an auto-maker in India. The company also claims that the maintenance cost of the car would be around 19% less than the existing cars in the segment.

Engine & Mileage:

The Kwid is powered by the 3-cylinder, 12-valve, 800cc petrol-engine which delivers a decent 54PS power and 72Nm torque. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car offers a 28-litre fuel tank and delivers a stunning mileage of 25.17 Km/L, as claimed by Renault; making it India’s most fuel efficient petrol car overtaking the Tata Nano.

Renault Kwid Special Features:

The most prominent features of the Kwid include the class-leading ground clearance of 180 mm, making it perfect for local driving conditions. With boot capacity of 300 litres, which can be further expanded to 1115 litres; provides ample storage for the small car. Renault Kwid also comes equipped with Disc brakes at the front and 155/80 R13 Tubeless Radial tyres.
