Maruti Suzuki recalls 33,000 vehicles of Alto Series

Maruti Suzuki India has announced a recall of some of the defective units of its two most popular models - the Maruti Alto 800 and Maruti Alto K10 to resolve the problem related to faulty latches on right side doors of the cars. According to the company statement, a total of 33,098 units will be recalled, which includes 19,780 units of Maruti Alto 800 and 13,318 units of the Maruti Alto K10. The batch of these affected vehicles was manufactured between December 8, 2014 & February 18, 2015.

The issue on these affected models is of defective latch on the right door. Maruti Suzuki has observed during its internal quality checks that if the door is half-latched and some pressure is applied from inside, it may open. However, there is nothing worry about; if the door is latched completely, according to Maruti Suzuki.

Maruti dealers will also call the affected vehicle owners. Maruti will proactively examine each and every unit and if found any fault with the Right Door latch, it will be replaced at free of charge to the customer. The customers can verify if their cars is affected by entering 14 digit alpha-numeric chassis number in the required field om Maruti Suzuki’s website. Or alternatively, they can contact the nearest Maruti Suzuki showroom.
