Mahindra’s Sub-4 meter SUV Codenamed S101 Is Renamed As KUV100
Mahindra has flooded the automotive market with yet another SUV and has revealed the name of its all-new sub-4 meter car to be ‘KUV100’. According to Mahindra’s nomenclature, the KUV100 will be pronounced as ‘KUV One-O-O’ just like its elder sibling – the ‘TUV Three-O-O’; whereas the ‘K’ in KUV100 would represent the ‘Kool’ & ‘Trendy’; so as to target the youth with a desire to own a SUV. The numeric ‘100’ represents the series.
KUV100, a sub-4 meter, will be launched on 15th Jan 2016. The car has been designed in collaboration with Manhindra’s Korean partner Ssangyong. It is mainly targeted at Ford’s Ecosport, which is currently the best selling SUV in sub-4 meter. The KUV is very close to proportions of the Ecosport. Its front end encompasses an aggressive stance with a large bumper and Mahindra trademark slim upper grille. It also features pulled back headlamps with LED daytime running lights and small tail-lights.
The KUV100 will be powered by an all-new series of ‘mFalcon’ engines, both in petrol MPFi (mFALCON G80) delivering 80 Ps and diesel CRDe (mFALCON D75) delivering 75 Ps. Both engines can deliver excellent low-end torque for the perfect performance and an enjoyable drive, as claimed by Mahindra. The KUV will be offered in four variants with ABS as standard for all.

KUV 100 Colours:
The car will be available in 7 exciting colours of Fiery Orange, Flamboyant Red, Dazzling Silver, Aquamarine, Pearl White, Designer Grey and Midnight Black.
Mahindra is likely to price the new KUV100 very competitively. The petrol variants will be priced from Rs. 4 – 6 lakh while the diesels will be at a price point of Rs. 4.5 – 6.5 lakh. With such a low price-tag for KUV 100, Mahindra will also try to hit two birds in one stone by challenging the regular hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 in the same price bracket and could make KUV a game-changer.
