The German luxury carmaker- Mercedes Benz (aka Merc) has recently announced its plans to manufacturer GLA entry level SUV into India. The segment of luxury vehicles has seen a tremendous growth in India for the last two years and still there is a lot of potential for further growth. Out of all the luxury manufacturers operating in India, Mercedes Benz has performed outstandingly which is evident from the 40% growth in the sales this year.
In the first quarter of this year i.e. from January to March, Merc has outnumbered Audi in sales figure thereby achieving the first rank in Indian market. To continue this pace of growth, the company has decided to increase the percentage of localization in its products and also the local assembly is preferred. GLA has now joined the league of models which are manufactured locally. The local assembly of GLA is expected to give the cost benefit of Rs. 1.5 lakhs to Rs. 2.5 lakhs to the customers. The cost advantage over its rivals will in turn boost the sales figure of Merc.
