Showstoppers at Auto Expo 2016:
Auto Expo 2016 has come to an end. Following are some of the big brand Indian cars that featured at the Auto Expo 2016.
Chevrolet at Auto Expo 2016:
General Motors India unveiled Chevrolet Beat Essentia compact sedan at the Auto Expo 2016. A notchback; Chevvy Beat Essentia, is based on the next generation Beat hatchback platform. Chevvy Beat Essantia will be powered by the 1.2 L STEC II petrol engine that delivers 77 bhp and 107 Nm and 1.0 L XSDE diesel motor which puts out 56 bhp and 142.5 Nm. GM India will launch both the vehicles in 2017.
Hyundai Cars at Auto Expo 2016:
Hyundai revealed i30, a compact hatchback in auto expo 2016.
The company also displayed another SUV named Carlino at the auto expo.
Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) showcased the 3rd generation Tucson premium compact SUV at the Auto Expo 2016. Tucson will be placed between the Creta and Santa Fe. The car is based on Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy and closely resembles to Santa Fe. It will be first brought thru’ CBU route and cost between 18 lakh and 23 lakh. Tucson will take on the likes Honda CR-V and upcoming Nissan X-Trail.
Hyundai launched its luxurious sedan – Hyundai Genesis. The second generation Hyundai Genesis is on offer with a choice of seven engine options. The engines are coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with ShifTronic.
This year’s auto expo unveiled Tata Motor’s most awaited cars – Kite 5 and Nixon. Tata Kite 5 is an entry level compact sedan; which will be launched in the near future.
Tata Kite 5 will be powered by the 1.05 L Revotorq 3-cylinder diesel engine, which delivers 70 PS @ 4000 rpm and a max. torque of 140 Nm from 1800-3000 rpm. All new 1.2 L petrol is naturally aspirated; which generates 85 PS @ 6000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 3500 rpm. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-Speed gearbox. The car is likely to get an AMT automatic option in future.
Nixon is a compact SUV. Nixon is designed around Tata’s Impact design philosophy and is very much similar to the concept. A new 1.5 L Revotorq diesel and an all-aluminium 1.2 L turbocharged petrol motor are likely power the Nixon. Both the engines are capable to produce power in excess of 100 bhp.
The displayed car featured a 6-Speed manual gearbox. The AMT option is also under consideration. This compact SUV will compete with Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and others in the segment. The Nixon is likely to be priced from Rs. 6 lakh for the base variant, and Rs. 10 lakh for the top-end model.
Maruti Suzuki at Auto Expo 2016:
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will be available only with the 1.3-litre diesel engine while Maruti will add a petrol engine later in 2016. The SUV will compete against the Mahindra TUV300, Ford Hyundai Creta.
You can expected the price range of Maruti Brezza sub-compact SUV between Rs. 7 lakh – Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Maruti Suzuki unveiled that Ignis is the first car in India that will launch on the new improved platform. A 1L Boosterjet engine powers the Ignis which closely resembles with Suzuki iM-4 concept.
Maruti Suzuki will keep the price of Ignis competitive against its closest rivals Ford EcoSport and Mahindra KUV100. By speculation, Ignis will cost between Rs. 4 lakh – Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
