The Tata Revotron engine is designed to power the upcoming Tata passenger cars.

With a clear indication of developing a technology that will drive them into the future; Tata Motors has now shifted its focus to petrol engines over the favorite diesel engines which dominated their passenger vehicles until the recent past. The all new petrol power-plant has finally come out of its shell after 300,000 hours of research and testing by a global team to be born as the first generation of ‘Revotron’ engine. This engine will be the new heart to be implanted, in the upcoming Tata passenger cars – the Bolt & Zest, to pep up the performance they need to compete.

Tata REVOTRON engine power:
The all new ‘Revotron’ is a four-cylinder 1.2L MPFi Turbocharged Petrol engine which pumps-up a whopping 90PS of power at 5,000 rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,750-3,500 rpm. The engine complies with Euro IV and BS IV emissions norms.
Multi-Drive Mode:
The Revotron ‘Multi-Drive Mode’ comes with three unique performance options namely – the Sport, City and Eco – all in the same engine. According to Tata Motors, the ‘Sport’ mode provides an intelligent burst of power when the driver needs it the most, the ‘City’ mode provides balance of power and mileage; ideal for urban driving conditions and the ‘Eco’ mode provides effortless highway cruising with maximum fuel efficiency.
The company unveiled its first ‘Revotron Lab’ in Delhi at the Ambiance Mall on 4th July, 2014. The Lab was launched by the renowned F1 racer Narain Kathikeyan. According to Narain Karthikeyan, “I’ve been very closely involved in the development of the Revotron 1.2T.
