Around 42,300 vehicles are affected

Ford India, the Indian arm of the American car manufacturer Ford, has recently announced a recall of its popular hatchback Figo and compact sedan Figo Aspire. According to the estimates, nearly 42,300 vehicles are found to be affected by this problem. All the models of Figo and Figo Aspire since their launch in India are under probe.
The problem:
This voluntary recall is announced from the point of view of the safety to rectify a software defect that may hamper the operation of airbags during emergency. In some extreme cases, the airbags may not deploy at all.
Corrective action:
Ford India has done all the arrangements to rectify the software problem at all the dealership locations. Ford dealers have been instructed to contact the vehicle owners of the affected vehicles so as to make an appointment for vehicle checking and repair, if needed, which will be carried out free of charge.
