Ford Figo Sedan 2015:
Ford India is all set to enter the fastest growing sub-4 meter segment of passenger cars with its famous Figo Concept sedan version. This sedan is Ford India’s answer to the sub4 meter category of cars. Ford had displayed the global Figo Concept sedan at the Auto Expo 2014 in Delhi earlier this year. Entering the sub-4 meter segment will help Ford to avail the excise concession in India which is extended only to the cars having length under 4 meters.
After the success of its flagship model Ecosport, Ford has now shifted its focus to the sub-4 meter segment in India and looks determined to boost volumes. The new front trapezoidal grille of Figo Concept exhibits Ford’s new design philosophy, which continues after the Ecosport. The new Figo Concept is believed to be based on Ford’s ‘Ka’ model – a compact hatchback car, whose sedan version the ‘Ka+’ was recently launched in Brazil.
Ford Figo Sedan 2015 engine:
The engine used on the ‘Ka’ is a derived from Ford’s 1.0L Ecoboost engine. The Brazilian version Ford Ka is powered by an all new 1.0 litre petrol ‘ECOnetic’ engine weighing only 85 kgs, which produces 85PS power at 6500 rpm and 105Nm torque at 4500rpm. This new engine technology features Dual-command Twin independent Variable Camshaft Timing (TiVCT), which varies the intake and exhaust valve timings independently. It is yet to be known; if this or a similar engine would also power the sub-4m version to be introduced in India next year. Although it is not yet clear, Ford may also provide Diesel engine option to take on the hotly contested competition in the segment such as Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze. The launch of Figo Sedan is speculated to be in early to mid 2015.
