Ford’s Sub-4 Meter Sedan Concept Renamed ‘Figo Aspire’
Ford India has announced an official nameplate for its upcoming sub-4 meter compact Figo sedan concept. It will now be formally referred to as the Figo Aspire. Ford’s first sub-4 meter car for India – the Figo Aspire, will compete with Maruti Suzuki’s best-seller in the segment – the Swift Dzire, the most amazing Honda Amaze, Hyundai’s fluidic Xcent and Tata’s enthusiastic Zest.

The Ford Aspire will be powered by Ford’s proven 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine and 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol engine. The Figo Aspire will also have Ford’s special features like Sync with AppLink and Emergency Assistance. Ford will start the production of Figo Aspire from its Sanand plant & will possibly launch it in market sometime in the second half of 2015. Ford India is also planning to roll out 3 new cars in the next 12 to 18 months in the Indian market.
According to Ford, the body of Aspire has a robust structure, which is crafted using high-strength steel to ensure enhanced protection. The Aspire will also be equipped with side and curtain airbags, which are first-in-class as claimed by Ford.
Is it just a coincidence or a well-planned attempt by Ford to name this car ‘Aspire’, giving an indication of a direct challenge to the segment leader Maruti ‘Desire’; to which it is very synonymous?
