Speaking about the launch of the new Hypermotard 950, Sergi Canovas, Managing Director of Ducati India, said:
Hypermotard range has been loved and appreciated by riders who look for a fun and adrenalin-packed motorcycle. The new Hypermotard 950 inherits the sport and fearless characteristics which aligns to the personality of a rider who wants pure fun. It does not confine itself to a supermoto bike alone but rather comes with the performance of a dirt bike and soul of a sports bike. It’s a perfect choice for riders who’re looking for a thrilling yet sophisticated motorcycle.

Design & Styling:
On the styling part, the motorcycle retains the beak from its predecessors. Ducati Hypermotard 950's characteristic 'beak' design makes it stand out. At the front, it gets a compact headlight with Daytime Running Light (DRL).

Furthermore, the revised tail section features a rear Trellis sub-frame and twin under-seat tailpipes. These features are borrowed from 2009 Hypermotard 796. Ducati Hypermotard 950 has redesigned ergonomics. It includes wider handlebars, slimmer sides, and a new seat. Besides, a leaner inner curve ensures easy access. The motorcycle has 53 mm shorter inner leg curve measurement than the earlier model.

Engine & Power:
The 937cc, twin-cylinder, Ducati Testastretta 11° engine powers Ducati Hypermotard 950. This new engine comes with new type of pistons with higher compression ratio. It also has a new exhaust cam profile, new 53mm throttle bodies, and new engine map. This engine produces a power output of 114 hp. This is 4 hp higher than the earlier model. The extra power is complemented by the light-weight to attain a better power-to-weight ratio. The torque of 96Nm peaks at 7,250 rpm while 80% of it is available at just 3,000 rpm. Besides, the motorcycle also offers three riding modes.
Suspension & Brakes
Furthermore, Ducati Hypermotard 950 is 4 kg lighter than the earlier model. The weight-loss therapy includes new steel trellis frame, new rims, and brake discs with aluminum flanges. It also includes lightweight Marzocchi forks with aluminum fork bodies/tubes. The brakes are operated by a radial brake master cylinder. Twin mono-bloc, radially-mounted, Brembo calipers at front handle the braking duties. Besides, the front brake lever offers 5 adjustable positions. Front suspension comprises of fully adjustable 45 mm Marzocchi forks with 170 mm wheel travel.

Variants
Furthermore, Ducati Hypermotard 950 differs from Hypermotard 950 SP in many areas. They include suspension, weight, wheels, tires, and seat height. The standard model gets fully adjustable Marzocchi front fork and Sachs mono-shock at the rear. However, the SP variant gets fully adjustable Ohlins suspension with more travel both at the front and rear. Also, the Hypermotard 950 weighs 200 kg. However, the SP variant is lighter by 2 kg at 198 kg. The main reason for this is lighter Marchesini forged wheels.
Furthermore, the SP version also has a taller seat height of 890mm whereas the standard model has 870mm seat height. Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP version also gets a standard up/down quick-shifter. Both the motorcycles come with a completely new set of electronics with Bosch 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU).
Ducati Hypermotard 950 electronics package includes:
- Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO)
- Bosch Cornering ABS with ‘Slide by Brake’ function
- Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO
- Optional Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down EVO
Furthermore, the 4.3" TFT display is compatible with the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS). However, it comes as an optional extra. DMS technology connects the motorcycle to a smartphone via Bluetooth. It manages incoming calls, text messaging and music via the switchgear.
