BMW Lunches Heritge Cruiser BMW R18 & R18 First Edition in India

BMW Motorrad recently launched its cruiser model all-new BMW R18 in India. The price for the motorcycle starts from Rs 18.90 lakhs onwards (ex-showroom). The motorcycles will come to India under the CBU (completely built-up) route. With R18, BMW enters into the cruiser segment in India. BMW is offering the motorcycle in two variants. BMW R 18 standard variant costs Rs 18,90,000 while BMW R 18 First Edition costs RS. 21,90,000.

First Edition

BMW R18 First Edition variant gets distinct components such as chrome accents all around it, Blackstorm metallic paint scheme. Besides, it will also have the ‘First Edition’ badging on the seat. Moreover, the First Edition variant gets many cosmetic updates compared to the standard variant. However, the First Edition will offer additional features such as hill-start assist, cornering headlamps, and heated grips.

BMW R18 Engine & Power:

BMW R 18 houses the largest capacity boxer engine ever built by BMW. The BMW R18 gets power from a 1802cc, air/oil-cooled engine that produces 91BHP of power. However, this engine produces a peak torque of around 158Nm. The BMW R18 cruiser bike can sprint 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds while it has a limited top speed of 180km/h.

Features:

The motorcycle also gets three riding modes – Rain, Rock, and Roll that replaces the conventional modes such as Rain, Road, and Sport. However, other safety features such as the ABS, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), and engine drag torque control are standard. The motorcycle has sickle-shaped graphical LED daytime running light for better visibility.

BMW R18 Equipment:

BMW has offered the reverse gear on this motorcycle for its massive weight of 345kg. It is the most interesting part of the BMW R18 that runs on an electric motor. Besides, telescopic forks at the front and cantilever struts at the rear carry out the suspension duties. The cruiser offers twin disc brakes at the front and single disc at the rear for higher stability and proper braking performance. The fuel tank capacity of the BMW R 18 is about 16 liters.
