The German auto-giant BMW has introduced the 2014 version of its mid-sized SUV X3 in India, entitled as the All New BMW X3; in an event organised in Noida on 28th August 2014. The introduction of All New BMW X3 has posed a serious competition to other mid-sized SUVs like Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60.

“The new BMW X3 is the embodiment of independence. It is built for both the small and big challenges that each day brings. Its sporting character is revealed in an extremely dynamic driving experience with impressive efficiency and fascinating design that emphasises the athletic character of the new BMW X3.” Said Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India while addressing the press at the launch event.

Engine & Transmission:

The All New BMW X3 continues to use the same 2.0 Litre Diesel engine but is now tuned to put out more power and torque. This four cylinder engine now produces 140kW power @ 4000 rpm and has a handsome torque output of 400Nm @ 1750 – 5750 rpm. Working together with the 8 speed Steptronic transmission, it takes the car from 0 to 100 km in merely 8.1 seconds. In spite of being powerful, the 2.0 engine is equally good on the fuel consumption front offering a fuel economy of 18.56kmpl. The company however, has decided not to offer the 3.0 Litre engine on the X3 family henceforth.

Changes in Exterior & Interior:

To further improve the looks and styling appeal, all new BMW X3 now gets redesigned bigger headlamps and new kidney shaped front grille rendering it the bold style. Side indicators are now integrated in the Rear view mirrors. The front bumper also gets some minor design changes.

In order to upgrade the interiors, the company has offered wood textured finish and darker leather shades in all new BMW X3. The dials are also redesigned and the display screen gets even bigger.
