Ashok Leyland Stile

The journey ends for a good MPV

Ashok Leyland - a reputed manufacturer of light and heavy commercial vehicles, has finally decided to discontinue its MPV Stile from the Indian market. Stile failed to withstand the fierce competition in the market of passenger vehicles. Thus, its sales figures were shrinking constantly for the last few months.

The manufacturer had been targeting mainly the market of cabs for this vehicle. But even in that segment it failed to cast a good impression on the customers. Many experts believe that this MPV is a badge engineered product of Nissan Evalia. However, there are some people who believe that comfort features offered on Stile are much superior to those of Evalia.

This MPV is powered by a 1461cc Diesel engine employing a common rail injection technology and was available at an ex-showroom price of 7.5 lakhs Mumbai.

If this vehicle would have been successful, it would have laid a foundation stone for Ashok Leyland's entry into the passenger segment. But for now, the manufacturer will concentrate only on its traditional business i.e. commercial vehicles. Any plan of entering into the passenger segment is amorphous.
