BMW brings all-new BMW R 1250R & R 1250RT to India
BMW Motorrad recently launched the all-new R 1250R and R 1250RT Pro models in India. The R 1250R costs Rs 15.85 lakhs while the R 1250RT Pro costs 22.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). Both these motorcycles succeed their corresponding models in BMW’s product line-up. The motorcycles will come to India under the CBU (completely built-up) route. The booking for the motorcycles is now open across all the BMW Motorrad dealerships in India. In this segment, R 1250R will take on the Honda CB1000R+, Kawasaki Z1000 and Z900 RS. However, the R 1250RT competes with Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, Indian Chief Classic and Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic in this price-range.

BMW R 1250R:
An all-new R 1250 R is a naked street-fighter which carries forward the classic lines of the motorcycle. Body panels such as front spoiler, front mudguard, fuel-tank side-trim, and rear side panels get a refined finish. The bike comes with new model labels. The motorcycle also gets a black seat with embossing on the pillion seat. Besides, BMW R 1250R is offering a premium shade of Pollux metallic matt livery.
BMW R 1250RT Pro:
In contrast, the R 1250RT is a dedicated touring motorcycle from BMW. BMW has updated this motorcycle with refined design changes, giving it an attractive look. BMW is offering the tourer with two paint schemes – Blue Planet Metallic and Sparkling Storm Metallic that comprise of a unique metallic effect. This adds to the exclusivity of the motorcycle. Besides, R 1250RT gets chrome elements at the handlebar weights and windshield trim. This adds the luxury to the bike’s appeal. Also as an option you get a brown coloured seat that adds to its uniqueness.

Engine & Power:
Mechanically, both motorcycles have similar specifications. They get power from a two-cylinder, 1254cc, Boxer-engine. The motor produces a maximum power output of 132bhp at 7,750 rpm and peak torque output of 143Nm at 6,250rpm. The engine comes with BMW’s ShiftCam technology that is also used in the new S 1000 RR. It offers additional power across the entire engine speed range, reduced fuel consumption levels. It also has lower emission, optimised running smoothness and refinement.
Equipment:
Furthermore, the motorcycle gets lot of equipment. Two riding modes, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS Pro) even when cornering and also a set-off assistant Hill Start Control; all come as standard equipment. Besides, for the touring enthusiasts, the R 1250RT comes with central locking system, tyre pressure control, seat heating and anti-theft alarm system which adds to the riding comfort and safety.
In the infotainment section, the R 1250R gets a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen while the R 1250RT features a larger 5.7-inch screen that come with an analogue speedometer and rpm meter. You can operate these units with BMW Motorrad multi-controller. It allows the rider to easily access the vehicle and connectivity functions. Besides, the rider can also control phone and media functions such as making calls and changing the music on the go. It also enables practice-oriented arrow navigation.
