Coming to India in 2015: These Hot Hatches Will Surely Turn Your Heads…!!!

If you weren’t happy or excited about the cars that you saw on Indian roads in 2014, then just hold on for a few more days. We have compiled a list of some of the exciting cars to hit India’s roads soon – the top 5 hatchbacks in 2015 will surely make your heads turn.

  1. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Crossover:

Maruti Suzuki will bring a new crossover, based on its SX4 model in the C-segment, which will be soon introduced in Indian market. The SX4 is one of the 2015 hatchbacks, will be powered by Maruti’s M16A 1.6L DOHC-16V VVT multi-point injection petrol engine and D16AA 1.6L DDiS DOHC-16V turbo diesel engine.

The S-Cross will feature a 4WD system with four driving modes – AUTO, SPORT, SNOW and LOCK supported by Suzuki’s ALLGRIP technology. The S-Cross will compete against the Fiat Avvantura, VW Polo Cross & Totota Etios Cross in the premium crossover segment.

  1. Suzuki iK-2 aka YRA Premium Hatchback:

The iK-2 aka YRA is Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback which will be soon be available for Indian car buyers. The hatchback, codenamed YRA, will be competing against the Honda Jazz and Hyundai’s i20 Elite in the premium hatchbacks segment. Under the bonnet, the iK-2 is powered by Maruti’s 1.0L BOOSTERJET engine, a new direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine and also likely is a 1.3L Multijet turbo diesel-engine for Indian version.

The iK-2 is much bigger than the Swift and bears a sporty look, which may make it more appealing to the youth. It is also believed that the YRA will also be priced higher than the Swift.

  1. Tata Bolt Sports Hatchback:

Tata Bolt Sport, the newest hatchback from the Tata Motors showcased in Geneva 2015 is likely to be launched as another all-sport variant of Tata Bolt. The Tata Bolt Sport will be powered by the same 1.2L Revotron motor. However, the Sport’s engine is tuned for high performance, churning out a whopping 120bhp power and 170Nm peak torque.

Apart from this, the Tata Bolt Sport will show off some muscles with an additional body kit, which will be accompanied by sporty interiors. The Bolt Sport currently features a 5-speed manual transmission with multi-drive mode and is one of the costliest hatchbacks in Indian market.

  1. Honda Jazz Hatchback:

The new Honda Jazz is also one of the 2015 hatchbacks in the list. The revamped Honda Jazz will be launched in India around mid 2015. It will feature a 1.2L petrol motor and a 1.5L turbocharged diesel mill sourced from the Honda Amaze to choose from, which the current Jazz doesn’t have.

The new Honda Jazz will compete against the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YRA and the Hyundai i20 Elite in the premium hatchbacks segment.

  1. Hyundai i20 Active Crossover:

Hyundai India will launch is first crossover – the i20 Active, based on its popular hatch the i20 on March 18, 2015. Designed exclusively at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre in Russelsheim, Germany, the i20 Active will feature the all-new front fascia with projector headlamps, daytime running lights, fog lights and new front grille. The rear end of the i20 Active will get a new bumper with round reflectors, a roof spoiler, plastic cladding and new i20 Active badge.

Hyundai i20 Active will be powered by a 1.2 litre Dual VTVT Kappa petrol engine with power output of 82bhp and 115Nm of maximum torque. For the diesel version, Hyundai i20 Active may feature a 1.4L U2 CRDi engine with 89bhp power and peak torque of 220Nm. The new i20 Active will compete against the upcoming Fiat Avvantura, VW Polo Cross, and Toyota Etios Cross in the premium hatchbacks market.
